  • Day-01 Day 1: Arrival in Jodhpur & Sightseeing

Your luxury Rajasthan desert tour package starts when you set foot in Jodhpur. This city is also known as the “Blue City” since many houses are painted in shades of blue. In this one day, you will explore the best of Jodhpur, from forts and historical landmarks to marketplaces and hidden gems. Get ready for a day of complete exploration!

    • After you arrive in the Blue City, your local tour representative will pick you up from the railway station/airport/a pre-determined location.
    • You will be dropped off at your hotel, where you will check in. Then you will unpack and rest for a little bit.
    • Your first stop of the day is Mehrangarh Fort. This fort sits on a hilltop and was created by Rao Jodha (founder of Jodhpur) in 1459. Inside the fort, there are many palaces and a museum. One famous palace in the fort is Phool Mahal. The museum holds the machinery and artifacts used by Rao Jodha when he ruled the capital of Marwar. The marks of cannons fired back in the day can still be found on the fort.
    • A fun fact is that the movie “The Dark Knight Rises” was filmed in the Mehrangarh Fort, particularly the “pit sequence.”
    • From there, we visit Jaswant Thada. This is a marble memorial that was built in honour of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II. Inside the garden lie beautiful gardens and a lake. Tourists come to marvel at the architecture, while children play in the gardens.
    • In the evening, we walk through the lanes of Sardar Market and take cinematic photos at Clock Tower. This tower marks the centre of the marketplace. In the bustling bazaar, you will find Jodhpuri juttis, silver jewellery, and hand-embroidered fabrics.
    • Do not forget to try lassi from Mishrilal before you leave Jodhpur. It is creamy, sweet, and the best beverage to end the day after dinner.
    • Go back to your hotel for an overnight stay in Jodhpur.

Today is all about endings that lead to new beginnings. We leave Jodhpur for Jaisalmer. With this journey, we move closer to the Thar Desert. Expect a day filled with adventure, stories, and unlimited memories. You will visit Gadisar Lake, Jaisalmer Fort, and Jain Temples.

    • Wake up on time and enjoy a delicious breakfast.
    • We start the day with a short road trip from Jodhpur to Jaisalmer. This journey will take about 5 hours to reach.
    • Once you reach the Golden City, you will check into your hotel. Unpack and relax for a little bit.
    • Our first stop of the day is Gadisar Lake. It is a man-made reservoir which was created to provide water to the entire city. You can stroll around the lake surrounded by ghats, temples, and shrines. If you are lucky, you will find local musicians playing Rajasthani tunes along the ghats. You can even take a small boat ride on the lake.
    • From there, we visit the Jaisalmer Fort. It is one of the last living forts in the world. It was built by Rawal Jaisal in 1156. Many locals still reside here. Inside the fort, you will find many handicrafts shops, temples, and rooftop cafes.
    • Do visit the Jain Temples in the fort, which are crafted with brilliant marble carvings.
    • The evening is free for leisurely strolls in the fort or dinner at a rooftop cafe. The sunset here is breathtaking with the pink and purple sky touching the sandstone buildings. This is a great time to take cinematic photos of the city.
    • Go back to your hotel at night for an overnight stay in Jaisalmer.

Today, you will explore the best of Jaisalmer. We will visit famous tourist attractions along with some hidden gems. From merchant mansions and Bada Bagh to Sam Sand Dunes and a luxury desert camp, there is a lot to explore within 24 hours. So make sure you have packed comfortable shoes and lots of energy!

    • Wake up early and enjoy a hearty breakfast.
    • The first stop of the day is Patwon Ki Haveli. This is a cluster of five beautiful mansions that were built by wealthy traders in the 19th century. These traders were brothers and created havelis with intricate carvings. Many tourists come to photograph the architectural brilliance of the place.
    • Next, we walk to Nathmal Ki Haveli. This mansion is known for its fusion of Rajput and Mughal architectural styles!
    • From there, we walk to Salim Singh Ki Haveli. This mansion is known for its peacock-shaped roof and arched balconies. This is an excellent place for cinematic photography.
    • Then we go to Bada Bagh. This is a famous location which has royal cenotaphs with domed chatris within it. It is very relaxing, peaceful, and breathtaking. You have to visit it to truly be mesmerised by its beauty.
    • In the afternoon, we move to the Sam Sand Dunes. It takes about one hour to reach. As you move deeper into the desert, golden dunes are what you see for kilometres endlessly.
    • Once you reach the dunes, you can go for either a camel safari or a jeep safari, or opt for both. Camel rides are gentle and slow, while jeep safaris are thrilling and fast-paced.
    • In the evening, you should head to your luxury desert camp. Warm Rajasthani hospitality welcomes you. An evening program full of surprises awaits. You will get to watch Kalbeliya dancers move to the tunes of traditional Manganiyar folk music. You get to enjoy the cultural show around a cosy bonfire.
    • At night, you can go stargazing while wrapped up in a warm blanket and sipping a hot beverage. The desert nights do get chilly.

Goodbyes are never easy. But the short plan for today ensures you have something to look forward to. Today, we visit a cursed, abandoned village and some popular bazaars! This day will feel straight out of a movie!

    • Wake up early and enjoy a delicious breakfast. Pack and check out of your luxury desert camp.
    • On our way back to the city, we will stop at Kuldhara village. This is an abandoned village whose residents left the location in the 19th century. No one has lived there since it was cursed. Ask your local tour representative to tell you about the mysterious story of this abandoned ghost town. Take a ton of pictures in this haunted place. You will find houses in ruins, windows shattered, and more.
    • Then you will go back to the city for some last-minute shopping. You will explore Pansari Bazaar and Sadar Bazaar, some of the most popular marketplaces in the city. This experience is like stepping into Disney’s Aladdin. You can shop for leather journals, beautiful carpets, embroidered fabrics, and camel figurines.
